How we work
Transparency
Where our rock salt comes from, how it reaches your table, what is in the box, and how we operate in the UK.
Sourcing chain
Carpathian rock salt is drawn from licensed deep-strata deposits at Salina Târgu Ocna, Romania in the Eastern Carpathians — geology we describe as ~20 million years (Miocene). We select solid halite suited for tableside grating, not refined table salt.
Blocks are hand-inspected, cut, and finished in Battersea, London, then packed for dispatch from the same workshop. The registered office of Ocanom Ltd remains at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX; that address is for company filings, not where your box is finished.
What is in the box
- — One piece of unprocessed Carpathian rock salt for grating
- — A grater made for the block
- — A handcrafted wooden presentation box
That is the whole product. See The Box for Batch 001 and bespoke engraving options.
Packaging
Orders leave Battersea, London in plastic-free packaging — timber, paper, and cardboard where protection is needed. The block itself is protected that way rather than shrink-wrapped in disposable plastic.
Food hygiene
Carpathian Salt operates under UK food hygiene / HACCP registered for the handling and packing of food-grade rock salt in the UK. If you trade or supply restaurants, email trade@carpathiansalt.com.
Lab testing
A mineral-content lab certificate will be published on this page once testing is complete.
